Monday Musings on This ‘N That
Words of a song from years ago keep running through my head. I’m certain the words “Here we go again” are in that song. The TV in my den stays on all day every day—but not for me. However, I do go through the den to get to other parts of the house.
For about a year as I walked through the den I’ve heard politics ad nauseam—here we go again. About eight more days to go and then no telling how long after the election we’ll still have something on TV about politics.
Now for a few days, and particularly yesterday and for many more days we’re hearing about Hurricane Sandy—here we go again. Just saw a graphic of New York City when the mass of water comes ashore on them. My friend in Vermont went yesterday to get gas for her car and for her generator and then went to the grocery. She says that's about all she can do.
Of course Sandy will not be a hurricane by the time it reaches as far as Vermont. Sandy is such a big broad storm and meeting with another front that will cause snow inland. All the folks on TV are saying the water will be the major concern. It already is on barrier islands and hasn’t hit the mainland yet—here we go again.
In the South we’ve experienced many hurricanes coming into the Gulf of Mexico. There’s nothing good you can say about a hurricane. But this one is probably going to affect more populations and commerce than those in the Gulf of Mexico. I pray for the safety of the people in the northeast. Some will prepare as best they can. Some will not. Time will tell what misery Hurricane Sandy brings.
