OUT OF THE ASHES by Sandi Rog

Sandi Rog is an international and award-winning author of The Master’s Wall, Yahshua’s Bridge, and Walks Alone. Also
a mother of four, she lived in Holland for thirteen years and
now lives in Colorado with her husband, children, a cat, and too many spiders.

Jo, thank you so much for having me on your blog. I feel honored to be here today.

Welcome, Sandi. If you could have dinner with one person from today or history (except Jesus) who would it be?
The apostle John. He was the one Jesus loved, and I’d love to get to know him and what Jesus loved so much about him.

What fun or unique thing can you tell us about yourself?
I can ride a unicycle. During cancer I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be able to do that again, so I asked God to let me be able to ride my unicycle again, and . . . I did!

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Italy. I got to go there while doing research for my first book The Master’s Wall. While the traffic is horrendous, I loved the history there. Absolutely fascinating.

Please describe yourself with three words.
Crazy about God.

What do you enjoy doing for relaxation?
Taking a walk through the field near our house.

What is your favorite Bible verse?
Isaiah 41:10 New International Version (NIV)
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

If you could be an animal, what would you be? Why?
A house cat. Because they can laze around all day without feeling guilty.

What do you enjoy most about writing?
Escaping into another place, another time, going anywhere I want to go, being anything I want to be. I love it! I also love writing about characters who overcome difficult situations.

Do you have a dedicated place to write, or a nook or corner of a room, or the kitchen table?
Nope. Just my couch. I used to be able to write amongst chaos, but ever since beating cancer, I need quiet. I simply can’t focus without it. And with kids in the house, that makes it difficult. So, if I need to get some serious writing done, it’s after they go to bed, or I go to the local library, coffee house or bookstore. Nearly witnessed a brawl in Barnes and Noble once. LOL A man was using foul language (around children and everyone), and another man called him out on it. Boy, the man who was getting “in trouble” was becoming aggressive. I was surprised that the other man who had called him out, remained calm and seated. Had he stood, I’d hate to think what would have happened. I went to the library after that, LOL.

What can your readers expect from you next?
The sequel to Out of the Ashes is titled Into the Fire. It’s the story of Nathaniel’s brother. He’s a brooding, hot-tempered character who falls head-over-heals in love with the feisty, God-loving heroine, Nicolette.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?
Write a review! A positive one, and please, tell their friends on Facebook with a link to my book.

Please tell us a little about your novel, Out of the Ashes.
Here’s the book jacket copy:
A stranger. A kiss. A shotgun wedding.
NATHANIEL WARD, wealthy entrepreneur, needs a wife.

But he’s not interested in the preening, high-society women who are offered to him on a silver platter. He wants one woman, and one woman alone: the girl who gave him all the money in her reticule years ago when the Great Chicago Fire left him destitute. He sets out to find this woman and discovers she’s unattached. There’s only one problem, a shotgun wedding may be able to bind them, but will he ever be able to win her heart?

AMELIA E. TAYLOR blows a kiss to a street rat. Little did she know, years later that kiss would follow her to Green Pines, Colorado. When a handsome stranger arrives in her hometown, she guards her heart from the stirrings this man ignites. Despite society’s disapproval of spinsterhood, she is determined not to marry, having witnessed first-hand the lack of love and horrors that accompany marriage. But will a shotgun wedding reveal blessings that arise out of the ashes?

Any parting comment?
Out of the Ashes is my first book since beating cancer (I have three other books before this: The Master's Wall, Yahshua's Bridge, and Walks Alone). I honestly didn’t know if I’d be able to write again as chemo-brain sets in during and after treatments. It’s a foggy forgetfulness that seems to take over and makes it difficult to concentrate. I’m grateful to God for my recovery, and for allowing me to write again. It’s all because of Him and His tender mercies. If any of you happened to be one of the millions who prayed me through cancer, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Really, there are not enough words to express my gratitude.

Please leave a question you’d like readers to answer.
For those who love to read historical romance, what would you like to see happen in an inspirational romance novel? What would you like to see “more” of, and/or what do you feel is missing in the genre today, if anything at all?
OR…
What do you love most about the inspirational romance genre?

Thank you, Sandi, for visiting with my readers. I’ll randomly select one reader from among the commenters to receive a print copy of Out of the Ashes.

The winners of last Thursday’s blog post for two copies of Ancestors by Terry Dodd are Patricia and Sonja. I’ll email you. Thanks all for commenting. Watch for more book giveaways.

Till next time … keep on smiling.

  3. I love inspirational romance, especially historical romance because I like to learn something about the past. And of course a clean love story is great, love reading what people go through to learn the true meaning of love.

Thanks for the interview and giveaway ladies!
