Dawn of Liberty by Amber Schamel

Multi-published author Amber Schamel writes riveting
stories that bring HIStory to life. She has a passion for travel, history, books and her Savior. This combination results in what her readers call "historical fiction at its finest."  A homeschool graduate from a family of 12 children, Amber found her calling early in life. First published at age 21, she has continued to hone her craft and is now the author of over half a dozen books. She lives in Colorado and spends half her time volunteering in the Ozarks. Welcome, Amber. If you could have dinner with one person from today or history (except Jesus) who would it be? Why?
That’s a really hard question. There are SO many people I would love to meet and spend time with. One I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is Joshua’s wife. There is a lot said in the Scripture about Joshua and all of his mighty valor in leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. His quote “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” is one of my all time favorites. But it got me to thinking. Who was the “we”? Joshua was an amazing man of God, and I suspect his wife was a worthy counterpart.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
I LOVE to travel, and there are so many wonderful places. But for the time being, Florida is my favorite place to vacation. I have lots of friends there, and it’s got ocean, which is different than what I’m accustomed to, since I live in the center of the country. I’m travelling to Canada for the first time in August though, so it might change. ;)

Please describe yourself with three words.
Work in Progress.

What do you enjoy doing for relaxation?
I have lots of things that I enjoy doing for relaxation. I like to play piano and sing, even if it is no more than joyful noise. LOL. I also enjoy chalkboard art while listening to soundtracks or instrumental music. Sometimes a good movie, or just chatting with my siblings or friends.

But above all, I love to get some time with just me and Jesus. All alone. No one else close by. Living with a large family doesn’t afford a lot of that, but it’s indescribable when it happens. :)

Please tell us a little about your novel, Dawn of Liberty.
Liberty comes with a price. Can a fledgling nation bear the cost?

British forces advance upon a struggling colonial army. The time of decision has come. Declare independence, or give up the fight. The weight of a nation rests on Samuel Adams' shoulders as he joins the delegates of the Second Continental Congress. Can he raise the cause of Liberty above the fear of the King's wrath in the hearts of his countrymen?

Three riveting short stories follow Samuel Adams as he struggles through the events surrounding the Declaration of Independence and evokes the Dawn of Liberty.

Thanks for reading my blog! My recently released novella is titled Donna’s Detour. The story is set in 1956 on the historic U.S. Route 66, a two-lane highway that ran from Chicago to California's west coast. From a reader's review: "I love the author's smooth writing style. She has a way to take readers back in time with her exquisite words that flow throughout the story....It is time to relax, grab an ice cold bottle of Coke and enjoy a great book that will bring a smile to your face. Join Donna and Tommy as they take a journey on Route 66." Available in eBook at Amazon.
