THE THINGS WE KNEW
by Catherine West

INSPY Award-winning author Catherine West writes
stories of hope and healing from her island home in Bermuda. When she's not at the computer working on her next story, you can find her taking her Border Collie for long walks or reading books by her favorite authors. She and her husband have two grown children. Catherine's novel Bridge of Faith, won the 2015 Grace Award. Her new novel, The Things We Knew, released July 12th, 2016, through Harper Collins Christian Publishing. Catherine loves to connect with her readers and can be reached at her email address.

Welcome, Catherine. If you could have dinner with one person from today or history (except Jesus) who would it be? Why?
I’d pick JoJo Moyes. I’m a huge fan of her writing. I’d love to have a conversation with her about her books and how she manages all the things she does. She’s also achieved phenomenal success very quickly, so I’d be interested to learn how she copes with that.

What do you enjoy most about writing?
I love the possibility of a new story. I never really know where my characters will take me, even though I try to start out with a rough outline, I am definitely a pantster. It’s always exciting to see what comes next. And then of course, once the story is finished, comes the challenge of editing and making sure the pieces all fit together. But once it’s done, and I’m satisfied with the end result, that’s a great feeling.

What can your readers expect from you next?
My next book with Harper Collins will release in March 2017. I’ll be sharing the title and the cover over the coming months. The story takes place on a vineyard in Sonoma, California, and is about letting go of secrets from the past and finding healing, forgiveness and redemption. All prevalent themes in each of my books, actually!

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?
If you’d like to help share this story, there are several ways to do that –
* Post honest reviews on sites such as Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, CBD and your blog. If you’d like to schedule a blog interview with me, that would be great!
* Help spread the word on social media, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc. using the hashtags #thingsweknew #summer #beachreads and #amreading.
* Request The Things We Knew at your local library! This is a great way for new authors to reach readers who may not know about them.
* Word of Mouth – tell your friends and family about The Things We Knew, and encourage them to read it!

Please tell us a little about your novel, The Things We Knew.
When their tragic past begins to resurface, can he help her remember the things she can’t?

After her mother’s death twelve years ago, Lynette Carlisle watched her close-knit family unravel. One by one, her four older siblings left their Nantucket home and never returned. All seem to blame their father for their mother’s death, but nobody will talk about that tragic day. And Lynette’s memory only speaks through nightmares.

Then Nicholas Cooper returns to Nantucket, bringing the past with him. Once Lynette’s adolescent crush, Nick knows more about her mother’s death than he lets on. The truth could tear apart his own familyand destroy his fragile friendship with Lynette, the woman he no longer thinks of as a kid sister.

As their father’s failing health and financial concerns bring the Carlisle siblings home, secrets surface that will either restore their shattered relationships or separate the siblings forever. But pulling up anchor on the past propels them into the perfect storm, powerful enough to make them question their faith, their willingness to forgive, and the very truth of all the things they thought they knew.

Any parting comment?
I’m always asked about my journey to publication, and I can tell you, it was a long one! I’ve been published through a small publisher, Indie Published, and now I’m writing for Harper Collins Christian Publishing/Thomas Nelson, which is a total dream come true for me. My best advice is, don’t ever give up. Keep writing, keep learning, and keep your goal in mind. If you’re willing to work for what you want, anything can happen!

I love writing redemption stories. I think we all have one in us someplace. At least I hope we do! If you’d like to share yours with me, I’d love to hear it!
