JUSTICE BURIED
 by Patricia Bradley

Winner of an Inspirational Readers’ Choice Award in
Patricia Bradley
Suspense, Patricia Bradley lives in North Mississippi with her rescue kitty, Suzy, and loves to write suspense with a twist of romance. Her Logan Point series is available at all on-line retailers and major bookstores. In September 2017, Justice Buried, the second book in the Memphis Cold Case Novels will release.

Welcome, Patricia. How do people react when they find out you write?
I don’t get a lot of reaction until people discover what I write. Then they look sideways at me and say, “You don’t look like someone who writes about murder.” And I tell them, “But I kill them nicely.”

Do you type or write by hand? Computer? Typewriter? Legal pad?
I write almost exclusively on the computer. Started out on a portable Royal typewriter, and if I hadn't gotten a computer, I doubt I would have ever written a novel. :) No way could I ever get a clean copy!

What was the main inspiration for the new book? Had the idea been on your mind for a while or just popped into it one day?
I’m writing a series of novels on cold cases set in Memphis, and the Pink Palace, which is a museum, was such an intriguing place when I grew up that I knew I wanted to set a story there. I contacted them and they gave me an amazing tour of the museum from the attic to the basement, looking for places to hide a body.

Lighting Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains? - I like them both! But if push comes to shove, the beach

Y’all or You Guys? - Definitely Y’all

Biscuits or Dinner Roll? - Dinner roll—homemade

Spring, summer, winter, or fall? - It used to be fall, but after some of our winters, Spring has sprung ahead.

Laptop or Desktop? - A Macbook Pro Laptop

Mug or teacup? - MUG. I break teacups.

Please tell us a little about your novel, Justice Buried.
In an effort to get her security consulting business off
the ground, Kelsey Allen has been spending a lot of time up in the air, rappelling down buildings and climbing through windows to show business owners their vulnerabilities to thieves. When she is hired to pose as a conservator at the Pink Palace Museum in order to test their security weaknesses after some artifacts go missing, she's ecstatic. But when her investigative focus turns from theft to murder, Kelsey knows she's out of her league--and possibly in the cross hairs. When blast-from-the-past Detective Brad Hollister is called in to investigate, Kelsey may find that he's the biggest security threat yet . . . to her heart.

DAWN OF LIBERTY
by Amber Schamel

Amber Schamel writes riveting stories that bring
Amber Schamel
HIStory to life. She has a passion for travel, history, books and her Savior. This combination results in what her readers call "historical fiction at its finest." Her title, Dawn of Liberty, was awarded the 2017 CSPA Book of the Year award in Historical Fiction. She lives in Colorado and spends half her time volunteering in the Ozarks. Visit her online and download a FREE story by subscribing to her Newsletter!

Welcome, Amber. What is your favorite dessert? If you don’t like sweets. What is your favorite meal?
I love ice cream. It’s a family weakness. Chocolate comes next. Have you ever had chocolate covered coffee beans? I declare! Love those things.

How do people react when they find out you write?
Hahaha. I wish I could capture the look on their face. They’re usually surprised. Sometimes doubtful. I’m still pretty young, and I look even younger, so when you’re looking at me going, ‘she’s gotta be...what? Sixteen?’ and then hear I write books. Priceless.

Very similar to the reaction I get when I tell them I’m 26. They almost don’t believe me. But, hey, I found eternal life when I was 16 and I haven’t aged since. ;)

Do you type or write by hand? Computer? Typewriter? Legal pad?
I have a beautiful typewriter that a friend gave me, but I rarely use it for writing stories. I use it for letters.

When it comes to my stories, it’s usually on my faithful laptop who I affectionately call “Qwerty.” If I get stuck, sometimes I’ll pull out the old fashioned notebook to get the creative juices flowing again.

Lighting Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains? Mountains. Unless you can get both. Ever seen Seattle?

Y’all or You Guys? Both. Because I spend a lot of time in AR and CO, so I end up with both. LOL.

Biscuits or Dinner Roll? Yes, please. ;)

Spring, summer, winter, or fall? Fall.

Laptop or Desktop? Laptop!

Mug or teacup? Mug. Teacups are too tiny for this gal.

Please tell us a little about your novel, Dawn of Liberty
I’m super excited because this title won the 2017 CSPA Book of the year award in April.

Liberty comes with a price. Can a fledgling
nation bear the cost?

British forces advance upon a struggling colonial army. The time of decision has come. Declare independence, or give up the fight. The weight of a nation rests on Samuel Adams' shoulders as he joins the delegates of the Second Continental Congress. Can he raise the cause of Liberty above the fear of the King's wrath in the hearts of his countrymen?

Three riveting short stories follow Samuel Adams as he struggles through the events surrounding the Declaration of Independence and evokes the Dawn of Liberty.

MERMAID'S SONG
by Darlene Frankliin

Best-selling hybrid author Darlene Franklin's greatest
Darlene Franklin
claim to fame is that she writes full-time from a nursing home. Mermaid's Song is her fiftieth unique title! She’s also contributed to more than twenty nonfiction titles. Her column, “The View Through my Door,” appears in five monthly venues. Her most recent titles are Seven Brides for Seven Mail-Order Husbands and Acadian Hearts.

Welcome, Darlene. What has no one asked that you would like to share?

I just want to share that Mermaid’s Song is my fiftieth unique title! I am so excited and thrilled that God has brought me this far.

What’s your favorite place you have visited?
I’ve been fortunate to visit a lot of beautiful places. Our family trip to San Antonio is one of my favorite memories. I’ll never forget the awe my daughter felt in touching the dolphin, or the sense of sacredness I felt when I visited the Alamo. We had a lot of fun on the Riverwalk. It was a great trip.

What was the main inspiration for the new book? Had the idea been on your mind for a while or just popped into it one day?
Cynthia Hickey, my editor at Forget Me Not Romances, asked for historical retold fairy tales. My Cinderella's Boot is a contemporary retelling of Cinderella, but it’s part of the Runaway Brides collection. Besides, someone else had already chosen Cinderella.

So I chose the little mermaid, since I could write about my beloved Maine coast to my heart’s content. I decided my heroine was silent because she didn’t speak English. From there, it was a hop skip and a jump to the removal of the Acadians from Canada’s Maritime Provinces as the historical time period.  For those of you not familiar with Longfellow’s Evangeline, the British forcibly removed the French Acadians from the region now known as Canada’s Maritime Provinces during the French and Indian War (before the Revolutionary War).  Many Acadians ended up in Louisiana, where they became known as “Cajuns.” But my heroine is shipwrecked off the coast of Maine.

Please tell us a little about your novel, Mermaid's Song.
Noble Prescott is drawn to the scene of a shipwreck
by a sweet song sung in a language he didn’t understand. The songstress is barely alive, holding onto a piece of the ship’s railing. Her dress wraps around her legs like a mermaid’s tail.

Thus begins this imaginative retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale.

Justine Battineaux, an Acadian forced from her homeland on Cape Breton Island by British decree, finds herself adrift in the Maine colony. She doesn’t know the language and is distrusted as a foreigner.

Noble lives up to his name, providing shelter for Justine—and protection, as distrust turns into danger. For himself, his family—and the woman he comes to love.

How will Justine and Noble overcome the evil woman’s schemes to find their own love everlasting?

Walking in Grace

Progress is a funny thing. Sometimes it's linear, like when you're building a porch or painting a house. Other times, just when you're beginning to find your groove, you knock over the paint bucket, splattering Gecko Green all over your white trim. Then you must spend the next two to ten hours undoing the mess you made.

Sometimes our spiritual life can feel like that, because growth and transformation doesn't happen over night. We're bound to stumble, often when we least expect it. When that happens, we're left with three choices:
 1. Keep stumbling, falling into mess after mess, until we're nearly buried.
2. Get back up and trudge forward, with our heads down and shoulders slumped by defeat and guilt.
3. Get back up, brush ourselves up, praising God for His mercy and grace as we begin again with the clean slate offered to us by the blood of Christ.

We all have guilt, shame, regret that, if we let it, could hinder our growth and joy. But few of us have killed a man. Few of us have stood by watching, approving, as atrocities were committed. Surely a man like that would deserve to live the rest of his days in guilt, shame, and remorse!

What could this man named Paul possibly do to make amends for his hate-filled crimes?

The same as any of us who have sinned--nothing.
There is nothing we can do to pay for our past, not really. We can make amends with our loved ones, make restitution for what we’ve destroyed or taken, but those things won’t make us right with God. Those things won’t wipe our slates clean. Those things won’t remove our guilt and shame.

Only Christ can do that. But once He has, once we've received His free gift of salvation, everything changes. Everything. We’re made new.

That doesn't mean we won't still stumble on occasion; we will. But here's the beautiful thing about grace--it doesn't end upon conversion. God's mercies are new every morning, and through Him, we always can get back up again.

"I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us" (Phil. 3:12-14 NLT).

Forget the past and focus on the journey ahead. Press on!

Has regret from the past kept you in a place of shame or guilt? Let it go. Christ paid for it all, and He's made you new! Walk in His grace. And let others walk in His grace, too. Meaning, let others experience a new day in Christ.

Welcome, Jennifer. Please tell us a little about your novel, Healing Love.
A news anchor intern has it all planned out, and love isn't on the agenda.

Brooke Endress is on the cusp of her lifelong dream when her younger sister persuades her to chaperone a mission trip to El Salvador. Packing enough hand sanitizer and bug spray to single-handedly wipe out malaria, she embarks on what she hopes will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But Brooke is blindsided by the desperation for hope and love she sees in the orphans’ eyes. And no less by the connection she feels with her handsome translator. As newfound passion blooms, Brooke wrestles with its implications for her career dreams.

Ubaldo Chavez, teacher and translator, knows the struggle that comes with generational poverty. But he found the way out – education – and is determined to help his students rise above.

When he agrees to translate for a mission team from the United States he expects to encounter a bunch of "missional tourists" full of empty promises. Yet an American news anchor defies his expectations, and he finds himself falling in love. But what does he have to offer someone with everything?
