TO GAIN A BODYGUARD
by Tanya Eavenson

Tanya Eavenson
Tanya Eavenson is an international bestselling and award-winning inspirational romance author. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children. Her favorite pastime is grabbing a cup of coffee, eating chocolate, and reading a good book.

Welcome, Tanya. What takeaway value do you hope your readers receive after reading your book?
I want to show a transparency of a faith-filled life through my characters Brice and Madi. How, like us, their struggles with insecurities, human failings, and the need for redemption ultimately turn them to the Lord for guidance and strength. Because as we all know, this world isn’t perfect, we aren’t perfect, but we know the One who is.

How do people react when they find out you write?
People are normally surprised when they find out, but it has opened many doors for me to speak at writing groups and women retreats. I love meeting new people and sharing what the Lord has put on my heart to write.

Do you type or write by hand? Computer? Typewriter? Legal pad?
Oh, great question! I love doing both, typing on my laptop, and writing by hand. When I write by hand, I use regular spiral notebooks that I purchase at the beginning of each school year while they’re on sale. I stock up!

Lighting Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains? Mountains
Y’all or You Guys? Y’all
Biscuits or Dinner Roll? Biscuits. Yum!
Spring, summer, winter, or fall? Definitely fall. I love the change of temperatures and the beauty of the leaves.
Laptop or Desktop? Laptop. It’s hard for me to stay in one place.
Mug or teacup? Mug, filled with coffee.

Please tell us a little about your novel, To Gain a Bodyguard.
Undercover ICE agent Madi Reynolds has spent years
infiltrating a human-trafficking ring, but when her life is threatened, she is forced to walk away and advised to leave the country. Undeterred, she continues her plan to attend her brother’s Christmas wedding, with her partner assigned as her bodyguard. But after seeing Brice care for her niece, she finds it's more than her life that needs protecting. Is there really any defense for the heart?

War Veteran and ICE agent Brice Johnson has been defending his country and American lives for as long as he can remember. Now, he faces the biggest assignment of his life--protect the woman he loves. He's never been one to run from a fight, but when an old flame butts in expecting a second chance with Madi, and crippling visions of war call out to him, he begins to wonder if surrender is an option after all.

VOICE OF FREEDOM
by H. L. Wegley

H. L. Wegley
H. L. Wegley served in the USAF as an Intelligence Analyst and a Weather Officer. In civilian life, he served as a Research Scientist in the Atmospheric Physics Department of a national lab. Then, he worked 20+ years in computer systems development at Boeing before retiring near Seattle, where he and his wife enjoy small-group ministry, grandchildren, hiking beaches in the Olympic National Park, and where he writes inspirational thrillers and high-action, romantic-suspense novels. Besides his scientific work, he is a multi-published author with 7 novels and 2 nonfiction books published and several more novels on the way.

Welcome, Harry. What takeaway value do you hope your readers receive after reading your book?
My heroine, Julia Weiss, experiences the message of 2 Chronicles 16:9. I hope readers will see that they should never underestimate what God can do through a heart fully committed to Him, especially if that heart is theirs. God strengthens fully committed hearts.

How do people react when they find out you write?
Usually they are surprised, then curious. The revelation usually spawns a few questions about what I write and writing in general.

What was the main inspiration for the new book? Had the idea been on your mind for a while or just popped into it one day?
The plotline for Voice of Freedom was determined by the story told in the 3-book series. However, my personal study of Christians and self-defense provided inspiration for the two main characters, Julia Weiss, a small woman and a pacifist, and Steve Bancroft a big, powerful man who served as the weapons specialist for a team of Army Rangers. Opposites do attract, but they also have differences to work through. And Julia has a big question to answer. Is it ever right to kill another human being? And trying to answer that question while you point a gun at a killer is not the best time.

Lighting Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains? Beach, especially if it’s sunny.
Y’all or You Guys? Y’all may not know it, but my wife and I spent 4 ½ years with you guys down in Texas. For the rest of our lives, we’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest. So, it’s both for us.
Biscuits or Dinner Roll? Biscuits. But, for some reason, we call them dinner rolls on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Spring, summer, winter, or fall? Summer.
Laptop or Desktop? Laptop.
Mug or teacup? Mug. You can’t get enough coffee in a teacup.

Please tell us a little about your novel, Voice of Freedom.
Voice of Freedom is the Silver Medal Winner for Christian Thrillers in the Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards, 2017. On one level, this is the story of two people God brings together so each can help heal the deep wounds of the other. On a larger scale, it is the story of the rending and the repairing of America, continued from book 1, Voice in the Wilderness.

Voice of Freedom (Against All Enemies 2) back cover blurb:
All eyes are on America as the nation writhes under a tyrant’s grip.

Six Americans who spawned a resistance movement against tyrant, Abe Hannan, are hiding on the Israeli coast. Steve Bancroft, an Army Ranger protecting the other five Americans, is drawn to Julia Weiss, who reminds him of the twin sister who died under his protection. Julia, a petite woman with strengths that belie her stature, has horrific images of war etched on her mind, making Steve the kind of person her pacifist thinking rejects.

President Abe Hannan, in a stalemate with the insurgents, gambles to crush the heart of the resistance, Brock Daniels, KC Banning, and their four friends, in a winner-takes-all battle determining the future of America. If Steve and Julia survive, can they overcome the demons from their past and find hope for their future?

Voice of Freedom is an action-packed political thriller set in the immediate future, a story spanning the globe from Israel to Canada and from Washington DC to Oregon, a story for the time in which we live, a story of faith, hope, courage, and love.

Any parting comment?
The third book in this series, Chasing Freedom, is a prequel, meant to be read last. It tells the story of the third couple in the series, the couple cast in a supporting role in books 1 and 2.

Leave a question you’d like readers to answer.
What do you think about a Christian—like my hero, Steve Bancroft—serving as a weapons specialist for a team of Army Rangers—a person trained to use nearly every military weapon on the planet?

VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS
By H. L. Wegley

H. L. Wegley

What takeaway value do you hope your readers receive after reading your book, Voice in the Wilderness?
Actually, there are 3 takeaways. First, Jesus used stories to convince and convict our minds and hearts. Brock Daniels, a gifted writer and the hero of my story, uses words to convince a nation. I hope readers will better understand the power of words and the power of story. Second, the heroine, KC Banning, is incredibly gifted. She is a beautiful genius with a heart that simply will not quit. But KC has come to trust her abilities more than anything else. Regardless of our gifting, we will face times where we are not enough, and only by trusting God will we find a way forward. Thirdly, I hope readers will see that America, a nation God has blessed in the past, has abandoned much of the wisdom of our founders and that could lead us into a dark future.

What’s your favorite place you have visited?
That’s an easy question—the sandy beaches of Maui. I’ve written parts of 3 novels there, read, walked miles barefoot in the sand, celebrated my 50th wedding anniversary, and snorkeled. Actually, I don’t snorkel ON the sandy beaches. It was my wife who did that. Suffice it to say that one should not snorkel too close to the shore. You might, as the Beach Boys say, catch a wave. But you won’t be sitting on top of the world.

Do you type or write by hand? Computer? Typewriter? Legal pad?
Everything I write—plot outlines, character descriptions, backstory, and chapters of my books—begins as words I scrawl in a spiral notebook using a mechanical pencil. The penciled portions are usually crude, so I transcribe them into Word using Dragon Naturally Speaking. From that point on, I work mostly on the computer. I’ve found that writing by hand usually matches the pace of my creativity. So, new words keep flowing without the disruptive starting and stopping I experience when creating from the keyboard.

Lighting Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains? Beach. It’s my favorite writing spot.
Y’all or You Guys? Both. My wife and I spent nearly 5 years in Texas and the rest of our lives in the Pacific Northwest.
Biscuits or Dinner Roll? Biscuits
Spring, summer, winter, or fall? Summer. Summers are incredible in the Northwest.
Laptop or Desktop? Laptop.
Mug or teacup? Mug. Mug = more.

Please tell us a little about your novel, Voice in the Wilderness.
Voice in the Wilderness is the Gold Medal Winner
for Christian Thrillers in the Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards, 2017. It is the story of two childhood soulmates brutally ripped apart by an overprotective father, a US Senator. When threatened by a tyranny-minded president, the two, now adults, find each other and find that, together, they have the abilities, information, and platform to rally a nation against a tyrant … if they can stay alive.

Voice in the Wilderness (Against All Enemies 1) back cover blurb:

What if your blog could save the nation, but posting to it might cost your life?

As catastrophes drive the US into martial law, all eyes are on America, waiting to see what emerges. KC Banning, network specialist, discovers President Hannan’s tyrannical plans and is branded a terrorist, sending her fleeing the Beltway to find her childhood soulmate and protector, Brock Daniels. Brock, a writer and man of faith, gives CPR to a dying nation through his blog, which is read by military members still loyal to the Constitution. But starting a grassroots resistance while reconciling KC’s and Brock’s broken relationship proves difficult. When Hannan sends Special Forces to kill Brock and KC, starting a war in the Central Oregon desert, reconciliation, like staying alive, might be impossible.
Two extraordinary people … born for a time such as this.

Set both in Washington DC and near Crooked River Ranch in the Central Oregon desert, Voice in the Wilderness, Book 1 of the Against All Enemies Series, is a political thriller, with romance, about two people who must decide if they’re willing to sacrifice their lives to prevent the USA from becoming the Dystopian States of America.

Any parting comment?
If the readers would like a good feel for the main characters and the plotline of Voice in the Wilderness, this trailer does a great job of presenting both.

Leave a question you’d like readers to answer.
It seemed like a good plan to release my political thriller series, Against All Enemies, across the election year, 2016. But, by the end of that year, Americans were all on political overload. If I were to write a political thriller (with romance) for release later this year (2018), would it interest you or not?

FINDING GRACE
By Melanie D. Snitker

Melanie D. Snitker
Melanie D. Snitker has enjoyed writing fiction for as long as she can remember. She started out creating episodes of cartoon shows she wanted to see as a child, and her love of writing grew from there. She and her husband live in Texas with their two children, who keep their lives full of adventure, and two dogs, who add a dash of mischief to the family dynamics. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys photography, reading, crocheting, baking, and hanging out with family and friends.

Welcome, Melanie. What takeaway value do you hope your readers receive after reading your book?
I think most of us are pretty good about extending grace to others, but we often fail to allow the same for ourselves. As I wrote Finding Grace, I was reminded there are seasons in our lives when we can’t handle it all. It’s okay to let some things slide, to prioritize, and to rely on God and others for help. It’s also okay to release the unnecessary guilt that many of us carry. I hope my readers will come away inspired to give themselves a little grace when they need it most.

Do you type or write by hand? Computer? Typewriter? Legal pad?
I have both a small laptop and a desktop that I use to write with. Recently, I got a new table for my main computer that converts to a standing desk. I find getting enough exercise is a true challenge, so being able to walk some while I write has been wonderful.

Why do you feel compelled to write—in your genre or at all?
I’ve enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember and always knew I was going to be an author. As a teenager, I discovered Janette Oke’s books. From there, I developed a love of reading romances, and the library was my main source of reading material. It was very discouraging to go through the romance novel section because most of the books I found were less than clean and wholesome. That’s when I decided I would write the kind of books I wanted to read: Books that I wouldn’t mind my own daughter picking up when she became a teenager.

Lighting Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains? Mountains
Y’all or You Guys? You Guys
Biscuits or Dinner Roll? Rolls
Spring, summer, winter, or fall? Fall
Laptop or Desktop? Both
Mug or teacup? Mug

Please tell us a little about your novel, Finding Grace.
Single dad Tyler Martin can't be more grateful to the woman who finds his missing daughter. Even though he feels a spark between them, falling in love is a risk he shouldn't take. Too bad chance encounters and his stubborn heart keep trying to convince him otherwise.

After escaping a nightmarish relationship, Beth Davenport is content with her safe and blessedly normal life. Yet something about Tyler and his adorable daughter makes her wish for more. With the walls around her heart finally starting to crumble, she's afraid of a future she can't predict.

Can they let go of their fear and trust God to lead them to the love they desperately need?
