Leeann Betts
Leeann Betts writes contemporary suspense, while her real-life persona, Donna Schlachter, pens historical suspense. She has released nine titles in her cozy mystery series, the most recent, Silent Partner. In addition, Leeann has written a devotional for accountants, bookkeepers, and financial folk, and with her real-life persona, Donna Schlachter, has published two books on writing. She publishes a free quarterly newsletter that includes a book review and articles on writing and books of interest to readers and writers.

Welcome, Leeann. What is on your to-read list?
About 100 books I’ve picked up over the last few years (read 5 years or more for some of them). And still more to come, I’m sure.

What would you do with your life if you didn't write?
I guess I would paint more. Recently began painting, illustrating, and developing a note card line.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time? What is that? Seriously, I love to read, so curling up for an hour in the evening is a real treat. And I love to watch DVD’s, where I get to pick what’s on the schedule, no commercials, and I can bleep out the bleep-worthy parts.

Lightning Round:
Vacation: Beach or Mountains?  Beach. So long as it’s warm.

Y’all or You Guys? Y’all.

Biscuits or Dinner Roll? Biscuits. Unless it’s Mom’s fresh-from-the-oven homemade dinner rolls.

Spring, summer, winter, or fall? Summer. Again, the heat.

Laptop or Desktop? Laptop, although I’ve got mine set up on a desk, with a separate keyboard and mouse.

Mug or teacup? Mug. Although a teacup is special, don’t you think?

Please tell us a little about your novel, Silent Partner.
Carly and Mike take the vacation of a lifetime—an Alaskan cruise. Unfortunately, Carly can't turn off her nose for trouble. Or mystery. Pretty soon she's embroiled with a series of allegations, innuendoes, overheard conversations, and even a shoving match. And before she knows it—a body. Can Carly figure out who the killer is before she ends up floating on an iceberg—or worse?

    1. Hi Shelia - Thank you for posting and good luck in the drawing.

  2. Thank you, Jo, for having me on your blog today.

    1. You're very welcome. My pleasure to have you visit with my readers and me.

  3. I would love to win this book. I really enjoyed reading the author's questions and answers.
My answer to the question would be I prefer to start at the beginning of a series/collection but if for some reason I can't, I try to to start with the next book in collection.

    1. Hi Crystal - Thank you for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the blog.

  4. If you didn't know the above comment is mine.

  5. I don't have to start at the beginning of a series to become interested in a book. If they are well written you do not have the previous book in the series to still enjoy the present book you are reading. I'd need a print copy if I were lucky enough to win. I don't have any of those readers. Asked for one, but well Santa wasn't able to get me anything for Christmas this year. Had too many medical expenses to finish getting out of the way first. Thank You, Lauralee Hensley.

    1. Thank you for posting, Lauralee. Good luck with the giveaway. Hope you get to read lots of new books in the new year!

  6. Hi Leeann and Jo! Thank you for the interview, I love suspense!

  7. Thanks for the update to Carly and her hubby! I did jump in to a book in this series that was not the first one. I have enjoyed them non the less. I think Carly is just so interesting as a forensic accountant!

    1. Hi Paula - Thank you for your comments and good luck with the drawing.

  8. Great interview sounds like a good book. Thanks for the chance. I follow by email.

    1. Hello Tammy - Thanks for your kind comment. Have a blessed 2019!

  9. We have a lot of series books in the church library. I prefer to start at the beginning and go all the way to the end. Sometimes, in the next book, will be a snippet of what happened in the other book. To me, that ruins the story, especially if you haven't read the books in order.
